I’ve been asked this question a lot: How does a PKM system help me?

Five days from today, a conversation may remind me of something I read/did today, which is useful in that context. I look it up in my exocortex.

Five months from today, I come across an article that seems to trigger a thought related or opposed to that. What do I do, I search for it in exocortex and update that note.

Five years from now, maybe I am writing something and I want to use a quote or snippet. I run a search for related stuff (or it is augmented to offer a suggestion) and I get an apt quote/snippet right away.

That’s what PKM means to me. The ability to get in touch with your past selves and also possible future selves is what makes it interesting to me.
